Meet the team behind our CAF Prequalification

Our people are at the centre of all we do, and we’re delighted that Glad Group Services has met the rigorous requirements to become a CAF Prequalified Contractor.

CAF Prequalification, part of the Cleaning Accountability Framework, is a rigorous process that includes internal and external reviews of our HR and Payroll systems, collaborative efforts between the United Workers Union (UWU) and our People & Culture teams, as well as active engagement with our cleaning teams on-site to gather feedback on working conditions.

Thanks to everyone who made this happen, including Kiri Chase, Head of People & Culture, Roger Agyar, General Manager, Operations, Rose Boonyatulanon, Client Services Manager, Mamun Al Abdulla, Regional Manager, Sagar Pant, Site Manager, Ann Shanahan, People & Insurance Manager, Sash Todorovski, Site Manager and Sachet Shrestha, Contract Administrator – and many more!

Let’s hear from a few of our people who were part of the team that made this happen:

Sachet Shrestha, Contract Administrator, Glad Group

As Glad Group’s Contract Administrator, Sachet Shrestha supports the governance and lifecycle management of service agreements across major commercial and retail portfolios.

Sachet commenced with Glad Group in 2021 as a Cleaner, progressing to Cleaning Supervisor, then Customer Service Manager before being formally appointed as Contract Administrator in 2023.

Despite recently undergoing surgery, Sachet made time to meet with CAF representatives to review governance documentation and compliance systems at a contractual level. He said: “It’s so good for the cleaning team to have CAF on their side and CAF is happy whenever we look after our cleaners. It feels like such an achievement.”

Ann Shanahan, People & Insurance Manager, Glad Group

Based in our support office in Sydney, Ann Shanahan, our People & Insurance Manager, along with colleague Cristina Da Silva, our Payroll Manager, played an instrumental role in this rigorous process.

Ann said: “As part of our CAF Prequalification we had an external audit. There were two auditors sitting with me and Cristina for three full days as part of the process. To achieve the Prequalification, we had a range of information to verify, tasks to do and things to tick off – like updates to employment contracts, additional information on working safely in Australia, updating our leave policy and the development of new policies such as our Social Compliance Policy. Whilst it’s a huge undertaking I found it so informative and ultimately our systems and our cleaning teams benefit as a result.”

Kiri Chase, Head of People & Culture, Glad Group

Kiri Chase, our passionate people leader, who oversaw the process said:

“I’m so proud of our incredible cleaning teams nationwide and the robust People & Culture framework that made this possible. CAF certification recognises that we are all working toward the same goal, assurance that our cleaners have access to safe and fair working conditions. This recognition marks a significant milestone, and we’re just getting started as we continue striving for excellence and solidifying our place as an Employer of Choice.”

About the Cleaning Accountability Framework (CAF)

CAF works across Australia’s cleaning supply chain to improve working conditions, champion ethical procurement and introduce best practice.

At Glad Group Services, alongside achieving CAF Contractor Prequalification, we continue to support the principles of CAF by working in partnership with our customers to achieve CAF Building Certification. So far, we’ve worked in partnership to achieve the CAF 3 Star Standard across five assets, including EastCo and Eastland in VIC, as well as Westpoint, Castle Towers and 275 Kent Street in NSW – with more to come.
