Glad Maintenance are committed to upskilling our youth through the implementation of an Apprenticeship Program. Working closely with the Melbourne Eastern Group Training (MEGT) and Apprenticeship Support, both Adam Volkers, General Manager and Anthony Wall, Service Delivery Manager are committed to providing career opportunities for candidates that have a drive for learning and career progression.
In our Apprenticeship Program, we focus on providing practical experience (working alongside an experienced electrician), building technical skills, developing trusting relationships and educating them on the importance of safety in the workplace. A few of the many skills learned as an apprentice are how to test and tag, how to isolate electrical circuits, learn the art of cabling, find, and solve electrical faults, or complete quality tests on installations, and more.
“It is very fulfilling to provide training that sets up a person’s career for the long-term. We aim to provide our apprentices with skills that can take them forward in their career, and it is very rewarding when they complete their training with us.” – Anthony Wall, Service Delivery Manager
Apart from practical knowledge, apprentices are also provided training through attendance to monthly Toolbox Talks and basic site inductions. Our Apprenticeship Program is focused to ensure that at the end of the 4-year period participants have the confidence and ability to perform at a level that allows them to work independently and be equipped to solve any issues raised on site.
In our next articles, we will introduce you to two electricians who recently completed their electrical apprenticeships with Glad Maintenance, stay tuned.
