International Security Officers’ Day is observed on July 24th as a reminder to acknowledge and appreciate the individuals who safeguard our communities, workplaces, and public spaces, every day. The theme for International Security Officer Day 2024 revolves around recognition, respect, and resilience. This day honours the efforts of security officers and raises awareness about the challenges they face and their critical role in maintaining safety and order. We are proud to share the profiles below for Lulu Fatima, Namualii Tuigamala, and Manjit Singh who went above and beyond to ensure the safety of our customer’s assets.
Lulu Fatima, Assistant Security Supervisor
Lulu Fatima entered the security industry in 2023 driven by a passion for community service and a desire to help others. Lulu was attracted to the diverse responsibilities and comprehensive training opportunities within security roles, particularly in crisis management—a field she is deeply passionate about. Starting her career as a Control Room Operator, Lulu has thrived and never looked back.
Lulu’s significant impact on the team led to her promotion to Assistant Site Supervisor. In this role, she leverages her exceptional communication and multitasking skills to coordinate security services within a complex retail environment. Her organised approach has resulted in outstanding service outcomes for her team, customers, clients, and local law enforcement.
With every day presenting new challenges, Lulu enjoys using her skills to enhance team performance and continuously develop her ability to manage diverse situations. Inspired by other female leaders in the security industry, Lulu is determined to demonstrate that security offers viable career pathways for women. As a role model for new female team members, she actively participates in their training, providing support and advice as they grow in their roles.
Lulu is a wonderful example of female leadership that combines compassion, empathy and professionalism which benefits not just her team but the entire security industry.
Namualii Tuigamala, Integrated Services Manager
Namualii Tuigamala entered the security industry over 10 years ago and has since demonstrated a commitment to learning and growth. Respected by his peers, he appreciates the mentors who have guided his career progression. Starting as a Security Rover, Namualii now manages a large integrated services team.
Namualii believes strongly in the power of teamwork to create positive workplace experiences. He dedicates his time and energy to upskilling and supporting security teams not only at his site but across the Glad Group Services portfolio.
Known for ensuring that the right resources are in the right place at the right time, Namualii’s caring approach is valued by all. His leadership provides a strong foundation for his team, enabling them to perform at their best and ensure the safety and security of the community.
Manjit Singh, Security Officer
Over 23 years ago, Manjit migrated to Australia, leaving behind a successful law career to start anew with his two young daughters. Seeking a flexible job that would allow him to balance personal and professional responsibilities, he turned to the security industry. Today, he is proud of his 20-year tenure at one of Australia’s largest shopping centres.
As a Security Officer, Manjit valued the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals and give back to the community. His guiding principle has always been to be as helpful as possible, aiming to provide excellent customer service to shoppers every day.
One of Manjit’s fondest memories is of team bonding events where he would share various Indian dishes with his colleagues. These gatherings fostered camaraderie and encouraged lifelong friendships.
Throughout his 20-year career, Manjit has witnessed many changes in the security industry and is grateful for the skills and education he has acquired, especially with the increasing role of technology in his daily routine.
