World Environment Day 2024: Recollection of Glad Group Services ESG Initiatives

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th. On this day, The United Nations encourages awareness and action for the protection of our environment. This year’s theme, “Ecosystem Restoration,” focuses on resetting our relationship with nature.

In line with this year’s theme, as an integrated property services business, we are focused on the appropriate disposal and recycling of waste and know that our responsibility extends beyond that. A few goals that showcase our commitment to sustainability are:

Sustainable operations

Glad Group continues to embed sustainability principles throughout our organisation. Below are some examples of how we integrate our “A Force for Good” strategy into our business:

  • Our staff uniforms are made of 100% certified recycled PET Polyester for all services.
  • We focus on using digital systems for documentation, reporting, and communication to reduce paper usage.
  • We use GECA-certified solutions for our cleaning operations.
  • In our security operations, where possible, we opt for eco-friendly/plastic-free security products and materials, including security equipment made from recycled materials or those with minimal environmental impact during production and disposal.
  • We utilise and extend the life of our equipment for our maintenance services.

Recycling and Waste Management Training

We adopt a continuous improvement approach, regularly training our staff on effective waste disposal. By educating our people, we are building a culture of sustainable waste disposal and are well-positioned to support our customers in the achievement of their recycling and waste management targets.

We recently held recycling and waste management training at a customer site (one of the leading shopping centres in Australia). Belinda Chellingworth from BC Consulting Pty Ltd, an expert on the topic, held a working session attended by key Glad Group personnel including Roger Agyar (General Manager Operations), Rose Boonyatulanon, Mamun Abdulla Al, Sagar Pant (Client Services Manager), and a number of our Site Managers. This is the second phase of our training and it comes after the classroom-based session provided to our Operations teams last year, all of which support the detailed Waste Management Guidelines that underpin our approach. Some of the key topics discussed during the session were:

  • An update on what’s happening in the world of waste
  • Successful retailer engagement strategies
  • Demystifying liners for landfill, recycling and organics
  • Efficient organics collection
  • Best practice dock and beverage container (‘CDS’) management

We understand our environmental responsibility as a business. Our ISO 14001 accreditation and environmental policies are a testament to our commitment. Contact us if you have any inquiries or would like to learn more about our ESG framework.
