The Glad Group is built on community. We support many charity events.
Here’s a rundown of how we help.
From Glad Group’s early days up to this very moment, we’ve built a strong community.
Our wide and multicultural team of professionals managing our cleaning services, making sure business and retail environments are clean, hygienic and free from hazards. Our security services provide extra peace of mind, with onsite personnel and digital monitoring systems.
Our maintenance services keep things ticking along, reducing any downtime from faulty, broken or unproductive machinery, while our concierge services are all about improving the quality of customer relations.
Finally, our waste management and recycling services team make sure businesses are being responsible with waste, while repurposing what we can to help the Australian environment.
We couldn’t do all of this without the Glad family and the people that keep us going, so we think it’s only right we give back to our wider community.
Glad Group has proudly supported many charities and community groups throughout our 20+ years of history, and we encourage our employees to make a positive contribution to their local communities and the environment.
Glad Group’s journey to Reconciliation
Glad Group is committed in working with Indigenous and Disadvantaged Communities. We have formalised our RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) in partnership with AES (Aboriginal Employment Strategy). Glad Group believes it is essential to support and enrich the Indigenous communities in which we operate. Through our people and our partnerships, we aim to promote equality for all Australians. We recognise that this is not the reality for many Indigenous Australians, who face significant social, economic and financial disadvantage.
Here is a selection of the work we contribute to in support of Australian communities.
As a proud sponsor of Lifeline Australia since 2012, Glad Group has supported various fundraising events nationally. One such event held at the Westin Hotel in Sydney attracted more than 900 attendees, including special guests The Hon Bob Hawke AC, 23rd Prime Minister of Australia, and the Hon John Howard OM AC, 25th Prime Minister of Australia. Respected veteran television journalist Ray Martin AM facilitated the discussion.
We were thrilled when John Brogden, Chairman of Lifeline Australia, acknowledged Glad Group’s Managing Director Nick Iloski and his family for their generous support of Lifeline’s critical suicide prevention work.
Funds raised from the events support the provision of essential ongoing 24-hour crisis support line. This service now answers around 1,800 calls each day – around one call every 32 seconds – with around 50 calls from people at high risk of suicide.
Lifeline’s services are now made possible through the efforts of around 1,000 staff and 11,000 volunteers, operating from over 60 locations nationwide.
PROPERTY INDUSTRY FOUNDATION
Glad Group has been a Silver Donor of the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) since 2009. PIF raises more than $1.5 million annually to support approximately 20 grass-roots charities that provide services to homeless and at-risk youth. Some of these charities and initiatives are:
– Rebuild a Young Life Program
– National Hard Hat Day
– Property Industry Foundation Charity Regatta
– Property Blitz is another Property Industry Foundation volunteer program
Glad Group employees are encouraged to volunteer their time for the benefit of homeless children and youth through industry networking, event support, workabees and buddy days.
SYDNEY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
In 2013, the Glad Group made a commitment to become a Platinum Patron of the Children’s Hospital Foundation at Randwick, contributing to the building of a new five-storey wing. With overwhelming numbers of patients coming through the hospital doors each year, it was a cause we couldn’t help but throw our support behind.
This new facility will now benefit patients in need of highly specialised care. The new wing provides:
– A 28-bed Surgical Ward
– Comprehensive rehabilitation unit
– Family Centre for parents and carers
– Lung function testing facility
– A much needed eight-bed child and adolescent mental health unit
– A new child care protection unit
SIDS AND KIDS (NSW AND VIC)
The Glad Group hosted the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day Australia in conjunction with SIDS and Kids NSW and Victoria, raising $95,000.
Glad believes in the valuable services that SIDS and Kids provides, including 24-hour bereavement support and unique counselling services for families who experience the death of their baby during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood.
Throughout NSW and Victoria, almost 2,000 babies die during or soon after birth every year, and around 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage. The full $95,000 raised from the Red Nose Day Silver Jubilee Ball will go towards provision of these specialised counselling services by SIDS and Kids in NSW and Victoria.
As a cause close to our hearts, Glad Group continues to support SIDS and Kids fundraising efforts through the ongoing purchase of charity e-cards.
